Canada Bay of Fundy Atlantic herring purse seine FIP three year FIP audit

KT was delighted to help the Canada Bay of Fundy Atlantic herring purse seine FIP by completing their three year FIP audit in New Brunswick, Canada last week. Every three years, comprehensive FIPs are required to have an independent evaluation conducted to ascertain whether they are currently meeting the progress that is portrayed on its profile. Essentially, this requires a review of the workplan and any completed actions that have been conducted over the three years to verify that they are reliable and accurate.

The Canada Bay of Fundy herring purse seine FIP was established in 2020 after voluntarily withdrawing from MSC certification with concerns about the health of the Atlantic Ocean herring stock status. The aim of the FIP is to work with integral governing bodies like Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) to help support the improvements required before returning to MSC certification.

We were pleased to be able to work with the group and get out to New Brunswick to understand the fishery and production. Thanks to the team at Connors Bros!

If you are interested in using KT for your three audit, or any other fishery project, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us, info@keytraceability.com.
